PS3 Hacked By Iphone Jailbreaker Geohot

Psp OpendI never saw this day come when the PS3 would have been hacked. Just cant wait for the clever people to make some HomeBrew Applications for it. More power to the people. With its high specs, what endless capabilities are there.

As we have herd “geohot” has successfully hacked the PS3 to have full read and write access, bypassing the Hypervisor.

“Geohot” explains on his blog how he’s located a critical portion of the memory to attack. By allocating it, pointing a whole bunch of code at those addresses, then deallocating it he causes many calls to invalid addresses. At the same time as those invalid calls he “glitches” the memory bus using a button on his FPGA board to hold it low for 40ns. This trips up the hypervisor security and somehow allows read/write access to that section of memory.

A video showing all of this below. (more…)

Did you know that the Sony PS3 and PSP have built-in networking capabilities enabling you to enjoy your PS3 games and multimedia content from any where, home and away, using the PS3 Remote Play feature. This means you can enjoy your PS3 games, digital photos, video and music anywhere in the world via the PSP and a WiFi connection.

Minimum system software requirement: PS3 Version 2.10 and PSP version 3.80.

So you ask, how?

Connect and register the PS3 and PSP using a USB cable and select Register Device and wait for the settings to configure.

Then navigate to the Settings menu on the PSP, select USB Connection, and verify that the PSP display reads “USB Mode.”

Now access the settings menu on the PS3, select the Remote Play Settings option, and choose Register Device. When the PS3 displays the “Register completed” message, select OK and head over to the Network menu.

Disconnect the PSP from the PS3 if you haven’t already done so, and cancel USB mode by pressing the circle button.

In the PSP Network menu select Remote Play and you’ll see a text screen indicating the PS3 is ready to be accessed remotely letting you enjoy games, Photo, Music, and Video menus to access content stored either on the PS3, an external storage device like a USB Flash drive, or a media server such as your PC on you PSP whenever you can find a Wi-Fi hotspot.
