PS3 Hacked By Iphone Jailbreaker Geohot

Psp OpendI never saw this day come when the PS3 would have been hacked. Just cant wait for the clever people to make some HomeBrew Applications for it. More power to the people. With its high specs, what endless capabilities are there.

As we have herd “geohot” has successfully hacked the PS3 to have full read and write access, bypassing the Hypervisor.

“Geohot” explains on his blog how he’s located a critical portion of the memory to attack. By allocating it, pointing a whole bunch of code at those addresses, then deallocating it he causes many calls to invalid addresses. At the same time as those invalid calls he “glitches” the memory bus using a button on his FPGA board to hold it low for 40ns. This trips up the hypervisor security and somehow allows read/write access to that section of memory.

A video showing all of this below. (more…)

2009 – Top 4 Smartphones

With so many smartphones on the market what are the top 4…
iphone-3gs

1. Apple iPhone 3GS
This isn’t a phone, it’s a computer. Apple is way ahead of the market but with Google and Anroid on the case they need to keep upping the ante. All this means better smart phones for us… wuhoo

htc-hero-thumb2. HTC Hero a.k.a G2 Touch

HTC have produced a multi-touch interface powered phone that can really give the iPhone something to worry about. Also, the internet base apps are brilliant.

htc-touch-pro-23. HTC Touch Pro2
With its 3.6in touch-screen, full QWERTY keyboard and speakerphone, this phone is probably the best business phone yet that will rock any meeting.

blackberry-bold-90004. Blackberry Bold 9000
Blackberry may be the choice for multi-national cooperation business but they have now made a brave attempt appealing to the like of you and I. With a bright half-VGA screen, GPS, HSDPA and its amazing email functionality they have done a good job.

Oh yes, Nokia, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacture does not make the list. You never know, with Nokia introducing the OVI things may change and lets hope the Nokia E71 lives up to the expectation.

Personally I would suggest rather than chasing Apple in the courts for patent infringement, just do the same to them and copy the iPhone 3GS.

How to forward a text message on iPhone OS 3.0

Did you know?

Having recently upgraded my iPhone to OS 3.0, I was a bit confused on how to forward a text message. I read a lot about the added functionality but had no idea on how to use it.

Having spoke to a few friends they all advised me to use the ‘copy and paste’ functionality but that would just be ridiculous.

By pure luck I pressed the ‘edit’ button and hay presto the option to forward and delete individual messages or multiple messages on the same conversation.

Below is a screen shot of the options on selecting ‘edit’.

WordFu Review

The iPhone has paved the way for a new generation of puzzle and word games. To come up with a number, taking into account the thousands of games released for the device, is almost too daunting to consider.

Educational whilst fun, WordFu published by ngmoco and developed by Demiurge Studios is designed for quick play dressed up in a creative martial arts theme and will definitely tax your brain.

There are two parts to the game, rarely lasting more that a few minutes. Firstly, you start with selecting nine letters by rolling and flicking lettered dice to get a good spread of consonants and vowels to boost your word-making potential. You only have twenty seconds to do so too.

On completion of the letter selection, you enter the game itself. Now you start off with 45 seconds to recall and form as many words from the English dictionary as you can submitting each word by shaking the iPhone. You can reuse the letters as many times as you like unless you’re playing in “Shaolin Mode,” where you can only use each letter once to form a word and the longer the word the more points earned.

If you are good under pressure then you’ll start getting white bonus power-up dice to use. One gives you double word score, one freezes the timer for a while and the last lets you flick one of the dice to, hopefully, reveal a new letter. Used properly, the power-up can take your score to new heights and submitting words sets the timer back a few seconds, the game will always be limited to a handful of minutes at the most.

We have had the game for only a few days now, but we are totally hooked on it. We don’t know if in a months time it will have the same appeal however we do highly recommend it.
